Lautan Luas was founded in 1951 as an importer and distributor of basic chemicals. Today, the Company has evolved to become a distributor and manufacturer of basic and specialty chemicals, working with over 100 international principals, supplying more than 1,000 chemical products and serving some 2,000 industrial end-users throughout Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to its Jakarta head office, the Company has five branches and seven representative offices in Indonesia as well as a main regional subsidiary in Singapore, and offices in China, Thailand and Vietnam to oversee Distribution activities. In Manufacturing, Lautan Luas established 17 production facilities in Indonesia, two in China and is building its first manufacturing facility in Vietnam. Lautan Luas has also set up a Support & Service business segment made of four subsidiaries that were previously the Company’s internal departments – laboratory, supply chain, IT and water treatment – to provide value-add services to customers.

A publicly listed company since 1997, Lautan Luas trades under the ticker code of “LTLS” and has 780 million shares listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The Company has also issued three five-year bonds: Bond I/2000 of Rp 200 billion matured and repaid in 2005, Bond II/2003 of Rp 300 billion matured and repaid in 2008, and Bond III/2008 of Rp 500 billion will mature and be repaid in 2013. In 2008, the Company maintained its “IdA- (Single A Minus; Stable Outlook)” rating by PEFINDO (Credit Rating Indonesia).
